Our Story
WE firmly believe that we are all our brother's keepers. That is especially the case with the founder of our business, Landry, born in Lome, Togo, in the mid-80s. He spent the first 21 years of his life between Togo and Cote d'Ivoire, before emigrating to the USA. MEK spells the initials of his childhood best friend, who was also a brother and a confidante for as long as he can remember - the epitome of one who cares for others over himself.

How We Started

Unfortunately, Efoe was taken from this world earlier than anyone wished for after a battle with cancer on May 6, 2010, sealing the last in-person contact of the pair when the latter left to study abroad in Senegal, in 2008.

In honor of their time together, and the legacy of a man who had the determination to help and bring others together, on the tenth anniversary of Efoe's death, Landry founded The M.E.K. Initiative, a company dedicated to celebrating love, art, and expression.

Our founder is actively involved in the day-to-day operations of our company, with the support of his wife, Mary-C, their family, and loved ones, many of whom share his ideals and hopes for the world. Though borders and boundaries physically separate many of us, our hearts are beating to the rhythm of the same drum.
